Membership Categories

Full Members are individuals who have demonstrated interest in psychoanalysis as evidenced by the pursuit of educational, research, and/or professional activities. Full Members are either: (1) licensed or certified mental health professionals at a Master's degree level or above (e.g., licensed professional counselor, psychiatrist, psychological associate, psychologist, social worker), or (2) members of the American Psychological Association. Only full members have voting privileges.

Associate Members - Early Career are any other individuals who meet the criteria for Full Members and who have been licensed for five years or less. In addition, associate members may involve non-mental health professional individuals in other professional and academic fields who have a demonstrated interest in psychoanalysis and the purposes of the society.

Associate Members - Trainee are post-doctoral trainees and students, LPC-I, and all of those clinicians who are unlicensed and still in training--whether still enrolled in classes or not.

Student Members are non-licensed individuals enrolled in a related field of study.

Any trainee or student may volunteer on a committee for a waived membership fee.

Trainees and students may volunteer to assist with educational and arts programs for discounted/waived fee.

To (1) receive discounts for workshops and (2) register for free for monthly meetings, please first purchase a membership using the “JOIN” function below. To view memberships, select “Membershipsbelow. You can also select “Monthly Meetings” or “Workshops” to sign up for events. Upon registering, you’ll receive an email receipt with a gift certificate with a discount code to apply to monthly meetings and to workshops. If you lose this email or do not receive it, please email Liz Huber at lizhuberphd@gmail.com to get your discount codes.
