Speaker:Melissa Wallace, M.D., Melissa Black, Ph.D., Dale C. Godby, Ph.D.

Meeting is both on Zoom & in-person at:
The Center for Integrative Counseling & Psychology
4305 MacArthur Ave.
Dallas, TX 75209

Using the concept of the social unconscious we will explore the relationship between the foundation matrix, the dynamic matrix of the group, and the individual matrix.  We present the ways they intertwine themselves to form psychodynamics observable in the clinical setting and in society at large.  The work of Bion and Hopper are reviewed for the sake of articulating clinical conceptualizations and related interventions.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify and define the social unconscious.

  2. Illustrate ways in which the foundation matrix impacts clinical work.

  3. Describe Bion’s 3 basic assumptions about groups and Hopper’s fourth, and implement related interventions.

  4. Articulate one clinical example of the tripartite matrix.
